A scorching hot 2024 Finals Day

CHEAM Fields Club’s Tennis Finals Day on 29th June provided action-packed entertainment for the lively crowd of spectators. Whilst the tennis won the day, so did the fabulous weather and great atmosphere around the courts. 

A lot of effort goes on behind the scenes to make this premier event happen each year. Special thanks to the Tennis Committee members, Tournament Organiser, and volunteers, for preparing the courts and facilities. Additionally, thanks to the army of helpers on the day.

The Champions of 2023

Cheam Fields Tennis Finals Day 2023, held on 1st July, provided a great mix of on-court excitement and drama. Players of the future faced future champions and wowed the crowd with some skilled and competitive tennis.

Spectators enjoyed a fabulous afternoon of tennis and family fun, with a BBQ, Pimm’s stand, afternoon tea and homemade cakes to help keep everyone refreshed and cheering loudly.

The new champions for 2023 (below) are all deserving winners, so big congratulations to them.

Cheam Fields' 2022 Champions

A BIG cheer to the competitors, volunteers and supporters who made Cheam Fields' 2022 Tennis Finals Day a success. Everyone enjoyed the usual great mix of exciting action-packed tennis, watching new champions emerge and young talent on display.

Tennis Champions of 2021

WHAT a fabulous Finals Day 2021, held this year later than usual on Saturday, September 18th. Great weather, a supportive crowd, new Champions crowned, Junior success - and all the usual thrills and surprises. 

There were some great matches including a nail-biting tie-break second set decider in the Ladies' Singles final between Holly Tresadern and Lauren Waller, and in the Men's Singles an epic third set win for Nick, certainly a young player to watch for the future.

Well done to the players and a big thanks to everyone who gave their time to organising the tournament, and to those who supported on the day.  Without such a great 'army' of volunteers events like this would not happen.

Thanks also to the 'team' on the day who manned the bar (Glen, Heather and Julia), the umpires (Andrew, Lauren, Alex, Paul, Maggie and Adrian), John for providing the tasty BBQ, and event photographer Panagiotis Foufoutis who captured the day perfectly (images in the Photo Gallery).

 

New Tennis awards reward Excellence and Outstanding Performance

SOME very special NEW awards were presented by the Tennis Committee at the Club's Championships Finals Day on Saturday, September 18th.  These awards recognise and reward standout achievements. Congratulations to this year's winners:

Breakpoint Charity Event raises over £800

CHEAM FIELDS Club hosted Day 29 of the Bright Ideas for Tennis 2019 UK Breakpoint Charity Tour on 29th June, with over £800 raised for Mental Health and community wellbeing causes. The Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Muhammad Sadiq (above) opened proceedings and hit the first tennis ball alongside Club Chairman Adrian Butler.

A huge army of Club volunteers and their families helped with the organisation and took part on the day. Thanks to everyone involved - including our guest speakers, Club coaches and all participants, the event was a fantastic success.  More images in the Photo Gallery.

 

Drawn Handicap Finals Days

OUR Drawn Handicap Doubles tournament takes place every other year providing an exciting and fitting end to the season's tennis tournaments.  The tournament format opens up a great opportunity for new and developing players to shine.
