Posted by angela james on 4 January 2024
THERE is still plenty for bowlers to enjoy at Cheam Fields Club this winter. Bowls members can find a roundup of 2023 results and news in the latest BOWLS NEWSLETTER.
Competitive Bowls
There were some outstanding individual performances and achievements by Cheam Fields bowlers in 2023, and three Cheam Fields bowlers received Surrey honours.
Men’s, mixed and ladies’ league results can all be found in the newsletter. Highlights included the men winning Division 2 of the East Surrey League and gaining promotion. Cheam Fields ladies won The Smith Two-Wood Trophy Triples competition.
Club Bowls Championships
The Club enjoyed a highly successful extended three-day Club Championships weekend from September 1st to 3rd. Twenty-three finals were contested. Congratulations to all of the winners and everyone who took part.
Roll up for Short-Mat Bowls
On Monday evenings, the bowls still roll indoors at Cheam Fields. The Short-Mat Bowls league is in full swing, with eight matches remaining in 2024. Whether taking part or spectating, everyone is welcome from 7 pm. And, of course, the bar is OPEN.
Raising money for a great cause
The profits made at three Spoon Drives held in 2023, plus donations raised £192 for the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
