Here's a quick roundup of key points:
GENERAL
Please be aware of latest updates to the Tennis Section's Code of Practice, as well as other Club policies and rules. Safeguarding is taken very seriously, and all policies are reviewed and updated regularly. Please contact Sara Tresadern for any questions or concerns regarding safeguarding. All policy documents can be found here.
The Tennis Section's AGM will be taking place on Thursday, 23rd March at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. Please come along and support YOUR Committee.
In the unfortunate event of an accident happening whilst on court, please ensure details are recorded in the Accident Book (located in the first aid cabinet in the clubhouse). Also then please inform a member of the Committee by email.
DISABILITY TENNIS INITIATIVE
The LTA's iPlay30 DisabilityTennis initiative is going to be launched in May at Cheam Fields Club, offering coaching for people with physical and learning disabilities. Sessions will take place on a Monday, from 12 noon to 1pm, run by Head Coach Mark Love, who has many years of experience delivering this type of session. However, to run successful sessions, the Club is going to need volunteers to support.
If you can offer help, a training session for volunteers is going to be held on Monday, 13th March, from 12 noon to 2.30pm. This session will be run by Danny Sapsford, a former GB Davis Cup player. If you have the time to give, this is a great way to support disability tennis and give something back. Please email Mark Love.
ADULT TENNIS
The Club's social tennis sessions have continued to thrive throughout the winter months. There are 9 sessions held at different times throughout the week to cater for all playing standards, including early learners and improvers. There is also a highly popular Young Adults tennis session on a Tuesday evening (from 7pm). Please contact Lauren Waller for further information. Plus there are coaching sessions on a Monday evening for beginners and intermediate players run by David Baxendine.
JUNIOR TENNIS
As part of the LTA's Prime Video Youth Girls initiative, a new course of social starter sessions for Junior girls is also going to be launched at the Club in April/May. The course of six sessions will take place on a Saturday morning and is aimed at girls who are new to tennis, or returning after a break.
Please contact the Club's Junior Coaching Representative Rachel Buwalda for further information.
